Tips On Getting A Ripped Chest

By Leon Davies

One of the most common questions to get asked on the gym is how to get a ripped chest. Large rippling chest muscles look sexy and are one of the first things that other people notice when you take your top off down at the pool or beach. Great pec muscles also add shape to your body when wearing a shirt or T shirt.

The chest is made up from two principle muscles. These are the small pectoralis minor muscle which lies against the chest wall. On top odf this is the larger pectoralis major muscle. It is this larger muscle that provides the chest with it’s shape.

To build up the chest wall muscles we have to focus on exercises that work and stimulate them into growth. Another important aspect though is also to exercise the other big muscle groups in the body. A good example is the quadriceps muscles on the front of the thighs. Working these stimulates the production of growth hormone with promotes muscle growth all over the body.

One of the most popular exercises for the chest is the bench press. To perform this exercise, lie down with your back flat on a bench. Then hold a barbell and weights out at arms length above you. Then lower the barbell down until it just touches you chest and then start to push it back up. They key here is to do it slowly - no arched back or jerky movements.

In order to see those beautifully sculpted chest muscles we need to get rid of that layer of fat that lies over the chest. This achieved by dieting to reduce the calorie intake and aerobic exercise to burn excess calories. It can be difficult because if you go overboard you will send your body into a catabolic state which will lead to the net result of breaking down that precious, hard earned muscle.

The best way to do this is to keep up a good level of protein intake and to start doing some cardio routines as part of your workout program. Failure to do this will end up in you gaining not only muscle but also fat which will make you look big, bloated and ill defined.

A lot of people are impatient and want to know how long it will take to get a ripped chest. It all depends on how much work you put in and how consistent you are with keeping up with the program and sticking to a diet. If you maintain consistency you may reach your goal in as little as eleven weeks. Making small gains regularly is the best way to approach this.
